Item Description
In April 2000 when chef Jasper White opened his first Summer Shack on the outskirts of Cambridge, many of the customers from his former Jasper's Restaurant were shocked. White tablecloths, soft music, softer lighting, elegant dinnerware: gone! Turn up the music. Haul out the picnic tables. Bring on the fun. Smash the crabs right on the table. The only thing that remained the same from Jasper's fine dining restaurant was the quality of the food.
Now located in Cambridge, Boston, Dedham, Hingham, Mohegan Sun and on Spectacle Island in Boston Harbor, the casual atmosphere and the fresh seafood of a classic, rural New England Clam Shack remains in each of the Shack's locations.
Big blackboards hanging on the walls tell you about the menu specials, featuring the freshest, best seafood available each day. While some fish are available only seasonally, they proudly serve the best New England steamers, fried clams and lobster every day of the year. A specialty is Jasper's Pan Roasted Lobster. "Just trust us on this one. Just do it."
Jasper consulted his three kids when he developed the menu, so it includes state-of-the-art corn dogs, hamburgers, macaroni and cheese, alphabet soup, snow cones and soft serve ice cream … of course lots of kids eat lobster and many adults eat kids food.
So come get messy with some of the best seafood in town at Summer Shack, where Food is Love, and bring home a Summer Shack cookbook signed by Jasper to recreate your special evening at home.
