Item Description
This original Al Hirschfeld caricature (58/150) of the legendary Fred Astaire was given to another dance legend, Bob Fosse, at the wrap party for his 1979 semi-autobiographical film ALL THAT JAZZ. Signed and numbered in pencil by Mr. Hirschfeld, the original mat was autographed by cast and crew members, including Roy Scheider, who played Joe Gideon, the character based on the famous director/choreographer.
Donated to the Broadway Flea Market and Grand Auction by Mr. Fosse's estate, the artwork has been restored to its original splendor, with the autographed mat moved to the back of the frame and protected by a second sheet of Lucite to prevent fading
This piece of Hollywood and Broadway history is a true one-of-a-kind treasure.
