Item Description

During the run of THE ADDAMS FAMILY, cast member (and Broadway Bares favorite) Reed Kelly, now swinging nightly at the Foxwood Theatre in SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK, entertained his dressing roommates by creating outrageous outfits for the iconic "Barbie" doll out of everything from Kleenex, gaffers tape and Riccola wrappers to a Happy Meal container, Duvel labels and pink bubble wrap. Whatever was handy. Whatever someone dared him to try.

The backstage challenge, as now recorded for posterity in the coffee table book BACKSTAGE BARBIE, was "to design an outfit during time off-stage using only materials at hand.  No homework allowed.  Begin!"

More than two dozen amazing and hilarious Barbie dolls were dressed "to the nines" and with the kind of backstage elegance that would make Anna Wintour and Diane Vreeland proud.

  • Take home a "hot off the presses" copy of BACKSTAGE BARBIE. Review and delight in the more than two dozen Reed Kelly backstage designs for Barbie that would put Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan and Calvin Klein to shame.

  • Make a place of honor for your own recreation of "Toilet Paper Couture Barbie," a company favorite backstage at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, home of THE ADDAMS FAMILY.

  • Be the envy of fashion’s "A-List." Provide Reed Kelly with your own simple raw materials.  A mop-head, rubber gloves, Post-its or a McDonald's wrapper – all ADDAMS FAMILY favorites. Reed will create your own one-of-a-kind "Backstage Barbie."
