Item Description

Winner receives one framed illustration, one one-hour illustration lessons for a child.  Clark Benson Tate has spent his entire life finding his career path. When his mother suggested art camp at age five, he chose to research cartoon television instead, all the while endlessly drawing his obsession: tigers, jaguars and leopards.

Clark has since turned a lifetime of television and junkfood into a career. 15 years as and Art Director/Creative director for Advertising Agencies, producing over 100 commercials, was a good start. This has garnered him several awards, including a Clio and a Golden Marbles Best of Show for the dubious achievement of selling sugar to children with the Hostess Twinkie “Where’s the Cream Filling” campaign. When he had a whim to move from Minneapolis to San Francisco, he turned to character design, storyboarding, editorial, and advertising illustration. This gave Clark good reason to stay up late, drink lots of coffee and be a work at home dad.

Clients he draws for include: Burger King, Banner Health Hospitals, Denver International Airport, General Mills cereals, Hamburger Helper, Hormel, Hefty, IBC, Long John Silver, McDonalds, Napa Auto Parts, New York Law Journal, Pepsi, Playboy, Popsicle, Sonic Fast Food, Tropicana Juices.
