96 POINTS - Wine Enthusiast (Editor's Choice)

Gilles Nicault, who oversees the Long Shadows portfolio, makes this pure Cabernet. If this had a Napa Valley label on it, it could sell for three times the price. The structure is full and fleshy, but with the vividly bright fruit that screams Washington State. Juicy acidity underscores the berries, cherries and plums; the generously applied new oak adds texture and layers of caramel, coconut and chocolate. A bottle that belongs with Washington’s (and California’s) best. ~ Paul Gregutt

93 POINTS - Wine Spectator

Polished, generous and seductive, offering a lovely mouthful of blackberry, plum and mineral flavors. Hints at herbs and spices as the finish wraps up with a deft balance. This has power and grace. Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2017. ~ Harvey Steiman

THE STORY

A luscious, riper style wine with great nuances of red fruit and sweet spice. The 85% new French oak from the Vicard cooperage and the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon gives this wine a firm, yet smooth, structure. The wine has an impression of power balanced by a touch of acidity on the middle mouth. The complexity of some notes of earth and a blast of black cherry leads this wine to a long finish that lingers. This wine will gain more layers of complexity as it ages, potentially 10 years or more.
