Lindsey's Biography (from www.beautyandbrawngallery.com)

Lindsey Meyers is a self-taught 35mm photographer and mixed-media artist, originally from the Northeast suburbs of Chicago. She has been living and working in Logan Square for nine years and has taught both preschool and middle school.

Her artistic pursuits brought her to The Chicago Academy for the Arts and the Steppenwolf Theater, as well as the Joel Hall Dance Center. She graduated with an Honors degree in Psychology from the University of Southern California and is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, from whom she derives inspiration by simply being in their presence.

“Photography unexpectedly put all of the pieces of my life together in a very rapid and powerful way,” says Meyers. She quickly realized how “one photo of one moment can move one person,” so she decided to share these images- many of which she describes as “happy accidents”.

Meyers’ mixed media pieces are “the result of a random trip to the art supply store and years and years of writing and scribbling musings on whatever available surface I could find.” Her mixed media work has been evolving as of late through the use of new materials; found objects such as acrylic boxes, slip dresses and frames made of wood and nails.

Meyers recently exhibited at the 2011 Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival, as well as curated “Word to the Mother” and “April Showers.” These were the first shows to be held at the I Am Logan Square Gallery in Logan Square.
