Item Description
This striking wood carving came from the Himalayas courtesy of Quentin Wood of Himalayan Traders. It was discovered in an antique store in Kathmandu.
Quentin says of the work that "It is a unique depiction of a Tibetan meditating Buddha. Very good detail and heavy weight mask. It measures 21 inches from top to bottom and is around 11 inches wide. The depth is about 5 inches. Notice the soft eyes barely open in meditation. This mask has great presence and will bring a peaceful energy to your home or temple. Condition is good. It has a couple small cracks at the bottom right, but they are repaired and hardly noticible. This type of handmade item is never perfect like mass produced products. It is a one of a kind with it's own unique character including a ding or two and some small imperfections. It is a heavy weight 'old style' mask from the carving tradition of Kathmandu's valley. Age is unknown."
Himalayan Traders is based on the principles of small being beautiful and right livelihood being essential. Himalayan Traders' sacred jewelry is created by individual artisans and craftspeople living in Nepal and managing their own small family businesses. In many cases the jewelry-making has been a family tradition for generations.
Dimensions: 21"h. x 11"w. x 5"d.
