Item Description
Marcia Cooper first became inspired to be a painter while preparing to become an art teacher in college. Studio classes at Boston University reinforced a desire to focus on painting, and since that time, her work has been enriched by additional study with Boston area artists.
The painting process gives her limitless opportunities to represent the playful rhythms of forms that exist in landscape and portrait. Whether viewing a landscape on site or from a place where her imagination takes her, the most appealing qualities of a scene are interpreted and brought to a new level of understanding within each painting. Often times, the intention is to convey a sense of well being, an upbeat feeling or a bit of whimsy from an ordinary moment. With a compelling idea as a starting point, she feels at ease working in a style that weaves the flow of colors and shapes of the subject matter into a cohesive composition.
