Item Description
If you've never picked up a pair of needles but have visions of gorgeous, hand-knitted hats, scarves, and sweaters, this is your chance to get started!
Over the course of a two-hour lesson, you'll learn the basic elements to any pattern--knit stitch, purl stitch, casting on, binding off, increasing, and decreasing--and if time permits, find a pattern and start on your own project. If you have knit a little but are looking to learn new techniques like cabling, Intarsia, Fair Isle, or pattern-adapting, the instructor can cover that as well! A skein of yarn and pair of needles to use during the lesson will be provided.
Instructor Layla Schlack learned how to knit when she started working at the much-missed local yarn store Woolcott & Co. in Harvard Square. During her years there, she graduated from simple swatches to designing patterns and teaching countless others how to knit.
Layla is happy to travel to the winner's house or, if preferable, to pick a coffee shop or somewhere convenient for you anywhere in the Greater Boston Area, Western or Central Massachussetts. This lesson must take place on a weekend.
