This Scented Mountain incense set consists of two packages  of Agarwood Temple Joss Sticks, one small Dragon Design Incense Bowl.

The Temple Joss Sticks are made with a high quality agarwood. These long burning incense sticks are 30 cm long (just under 12 inches) and have a bamboo core. 30 sticks are packaged in a plain cardboard cylinder. As with all agarwood, the aroma is best after burning when the light smoke dissipates and the fragrance has had a chance to filter through the room. And the Dragon Incense Bowl to which you add ash or sand to the bowl for holding lighted incense sticks is 2.5 inches (6.7 cm) high and 3 inches (7.5 cm) wide. Stylish dragons are painted on the bowl and this modern design is commonly seen on incense bowls in many temples of Vietnam. They are beautiful bowls to burn agarwood in. Bowls are hand painted and each has very slight differences in the design.

Agarwood is a resin produced inside a tropical rainforest tree called Aquilaria. The dark resinous wood has a magnificent aroma when burned. It is considered the finest natural incense and has been used for cultural, religious and medicinal purposes for millennia. Agarwood was traded from Asia to the Middle East in ancient times and its long history of use is cited in the bible and other early religious texts. This rare and exquisite resinous wood, coveted by Kings and royalty, is now available for everyone to enjoy.

Based on research from scientific investigations carried out over more than a decade by the Agarwood Research Project at the University of Minnesota in cooperation with the Rainforest Project Foundation, methods to cultivate agarwood have been developed and it can now be produced in a sustainable way in plantation grown trees. These trees are farmed in the mountains of southern Vietnam and products from them will provide a new economy for poor rural people.
