Item Description

Erica Satin-Hernandez is a Community Change Board Member and artist. Erica realized after lower school that times that the way she could best express herself was visually. She ran out to get materials and started with paint and brushes from CVS. The painting up for auction is the second painting she made, titled "Yom Kippur Self-Portrait."

From Erica:

"This painting is inspired by my religious and emotional journey on the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. It is one of the holiest days in the Jewish culture and religion. Just one week after the Jewish New Year, it is a time to consider one's deeds from the past, apologize and repent for past wrongdoings, and consider how to improve oneself in the upcoming year. This painting is a visual representation and interpretation of my own process on that day: considering my emotions and struggles and removing the negativity from myself in the most visceral sense to reveal what once shone underneath. I've created a poster replica of the painting and put it in a simple frame for the auction winner."

Item Special Note

This is a framed, 16"Wx 20"L printed poster of the original painting.
