Item Description

Verna Myers, Esq., principal of Verna Myers Consulting Group, LLC (VMCG), is a nationally recognized expert on diversity and inclusion within law firms, law departments and law schools. Herself a “recovering lawyer,” Verna is a dynamic speaker and creative advisor in support of creating inclusive environments and improving the recruitment, retention and advancement of underrepresented groups.

In 2010, Pepper Hamilton LLP awarded Ms. Myers its Diversity Champion award. In 2009 she was chosen as one of The Network Journal’s “25 Influential Black Women in Business,” and in 2008, one of The Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s “Diversity Heroes.” Verna sponsors her own successful annual Opus Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Large Law Firms.

Verna graduated from Harvard Law School and received a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Barnard College, Columbia University. Originally from Baltimore, she is returning there — “going back to her roots” — after many years to a strong network of family and friends. She has one son, Très, a beautiful, budding musician, who lives in Boston.

Verna's thoughtful perspective and extensive knowledge of diversity and inclusion make this a must read for anyone who is ready to move from well meaning to well doing.

"If you believe that your organization has done everything it can to enhance its diversity, and if you are still frustrated at how little progress you have made, Moving Diversity Forward is for you. It is an instructive read for all of those who wish to live and work in a multi-cultural world where everyone has a fair chance to succeed and contribute."
