Item Description

Enjoy a week-long trip to Little Deer Isle in Maine during the summer of 2015 and stay in a 2000 square foot house on a private lot. It is a year-round home with a large deck and a deep water mooring. There is a small beach near the home (a short walk to the shore, 150 yards) where people launch their boats, kayaks, row boats and has a beautiful view.

You can visit the Haystack School, Acadia National Park, Isle Au Haut, Kneisel Hall in Blue Hill, the Opera House in Stonington and the Woodenboat School. Also, go to Merchants Row Archipelago for kayaking and see Pumpkin Island Lighthouse and Eggemoggin Reach. Other special places to see include the town of Castine and Holbrook Island Sanctuary in Brooksville.

Additional places things to do in the summer - ride on the mail boat out of Deer Isle which stops at several private islands, go to Stonington farmers market on Friday mornings, and stop at Nervous Nellie's home made jams and sculpture garden. Check out Old Quarry Ocean Adventures for kayaking, Barred Island Preserve, a beautiful walk through property formerly owned by Frederick Olmsted and other remarkable places to walk managed or owned by Island Heritage Trust.

This is a beautiful place to get away from it all. It is best for 1-2 people, with a downstairs master bedroom and bath.  Date to be discussed and confirmed with home donor. Summer months - June and July.
