Item Description
Ze Piexe dives into the ocean from the deck of the boat he is piloting.
Jose Martins Ribeiro Nunes, age 74, also known as Ze Peixe or "the fish," is Brazil's most famous boat pilot. He guides ships into and out of the port in a unique way: by swimming approximately 10 to 12 km. This simple man, who has never worn shoes and lives for the sea, is a living folk hero.
