Item Description

You and a guest will have tickets to this SOLD OUT Reel Pieces event on November 16th at 8pm.  92Y proudly presents this advance look at one of the fall's most anticipated films, The Imitation Game, followed by a talk with its in-demand lead, Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock," 12 Years a Slave), moderated by Annette Insdorf.

Winner of the People's Choice Award at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival, The Imitation Game is a riveting drama about Alan Turing, the brilliant mathematician who headed the British group that broke the German code system during World War II.  Excellent supporting performances by Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Charles Dance and Mark Strong enhance this portrait of a genius and his time. Scripted by Graham Moore, The Imitation Game is the English-language debut for Norwegian director Morten Tyldum, best known for Headhunters.

Cumberbatch's superb performance conveys both Turing's intellectual excitement and his personal vulnerability as a gay man.

He has played not only Julian Assange in The Fifth Estate but the legendary detective in the TV series "Sherlock" (for which he recently received an Emmy Award). Cumberbatch's credits include August: Osage CountyWar HorseStar Trek into Darkness and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

The Imitation Game has just received the Audience Choice Award for Best Narrative English-Language Feature at the Chicago Film Festival, as well as the Audience Choice Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Hamptons Film Festival.
