Item Description

Gorgeous Black and White Framed Print - "Txiki" from Mission Cheese San Francisco.

Txiki is part of a visual survey of local food by Michael Lamotte.

From the photographer, Michael Lamotte - Txiki is a West Marin interpretation of the Basque sheeps milk cheeses you can buy from farmhouses in the Basque country. Txiki means “little” in Basque. A 1.5-pound tommette-sized cheese made from the same recipe as the 4- to 5-pound tomme Baserri. The shape produces a different relationship of paste to rind, and a more rapid aging. A must try.

Michael Lamotte is a San Francisco based food photographer who started a project in the form of a food blog called From the Source. He is not only a photographer but is also passionate about food and the local food movement. His blog, www.from-the-source.com features black and white images of products from small, local producers along with a link to both the vendor and the source, hence the name.

Michael’s hope is this project and blog will help to promote small, local food purveyors and through an aesthetic depiction, foster a deeper level of appreciation for the products he photographs.
