Artist Statement: I have a tendency to personify inanimate objects & feel genuine compassion for those that are damaged or disregarded. I see potential in broken bits & find beauty in rust & erosion. The older an object, the more haunting & alluring its ghost. Assemblage art allows me to indulge these concepts by creating small worlds in a box where tall tales are told, jokes are cracked, emotions stirred, poems imparted & songs are sung. By using materials & objects that evoke the past, my pieces become storytellers, dream interpreters & memory inducers. They are innately lyrical & flicker along to their own silent film while their uncanny nature solicit the viewer to raise an eyebrow & lean in for a closer look.
