SEWARD HOUSE, a National Historic Landmark was the home of William H. Seward who served as governor of New York State, United States Senator, and Secretary of State to presidents Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. You will appreciate the estate’s lush gardens, elegant interior and the vast collection of art, photographs and souvenirs from Seward’s 42 years in politics.

The HARRIET TUBMAN HOME is a 30-acre national historic landmark located in Auburn, New York.  Harriet Tubman, and escaped slave and the most famous “conductor,” made 19 trips into the South and escorted over 300 slaves to freedom.  She lived and died there as a Free American.  Her home remains steadfast as a living tribute to the astonishing “Road to Freedom” enshrined by Harriet Tubman.  The site contains four building, of which she utilized two.  Once the property of abolitionist Senator William H. Seward, he sold Tubman a small piece of land. The land in Auburn became a haven for Tubman’s family and friends. Tubman spent the years following the war on this property, tending to her family and others who had taken up residence there.

Built in 1892-1894, the interior of the WILLARD MEMORIAL CHAPEL was designed and handcrafted entirely by Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company of New York Cit. It is the only complete and unaltered Tiffany designed chapel interior known to exist.

The CAYUGA MUSEUM & CASE RESEARCH LAB was founded in 1936 as the Cayuga Museum of History and Art. Theodore Case and his wife, Gertrude, gave the estate to Professor Walter Long for use as a museum. The original plan for the Museum was to serve as a civic center for the cultural groups of the city of Auburn. Since then, their mission has become focused on the Case Research Lab and the history of Cayuga County and the Finger Lakes region. The Case Research Laboratory is where Theodore Case invented the process of putting sound on film in the early 1920’s. Visitors can tour the lab, see original equipment, and learn about this world-changing invention that came from a backyard laboratory in Auburn, NY.
