Located at the southeastern tip of Chautauqua Lake, Jamestown is a city rich in historic sites and museums. It’s the hometown of several important people in the history of our country, including:

  • Lucille Ball, America’s first lady of comedy and favorite redhead, famous for the classic TV comedy, “I Love Lucy.”
  • Reuben E. Fenton, governor of New York State, 1865-1869; US Congressman, 1853-1864; US Senator, 1869-1875, a founder of the Republican Party and close associate to Abraham Lincoln,
  • Robert H. Jackson, the United States Chief Prosecutor of Nazi War Criminals at Nuremberg Germany and a Supreme Court Justice.

Built in 1930, the beautiful OAKS BED AND BREAKFAST HOTEL has preserved many of the castle’s original features such as inlaid artwork on exposed ceiling beams, pictorial ceramic tile and the slate roof. The Oaks is offering the Belvedere Room, the lodging’s largest guestroom, which includes a relaxing sitting area with sofa and wing-back chair. The sleeping area preserves many of the original accents such as an expansive floor-to-ceiling window encased in hand-carved wood molding and the original hearth. The Oaks’ takes pride in making their guests feel special.
