CLAYTON ISLAND TOURS offers the choice of two tours!  The Boldt Castle and Two Nation Tour, is an exciting three-hour boat excursion. Experienced guides will provide a live narrative of the sites on both the American and Canadian sides of the St. Lawrence River, including the Whirlpool Channel, Tom Thumb Island, the Statue of Saint Lawrence, Rock Island Lighthouse and summer homes of the rich and famous. Stopping at Heart Island you will enjoy a self-guided tour of Boldt Castle, a full size Rhineland castle in Alexandria Bay. In 1900 George C. Boldt, millionaire proprietor of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, began to build the castle as a display of his love for his wife. Designed as a six story, 120 room castle with tunnels and a drawbridge construction was halted in 1904 when Louise died suddenly. The Thousand Island Bridge Authority acquired the property in 1977 and set about preserving the landmark.  The Rock Island Lighthouse: Glass Bottom Boat Tour is an exciting two-hour 45 minute tour in a glass bottom boat and enjoy an unparalleled view of underwater life in the clean waters of the St. Lawrence River. Travel to Rock Island and spend 1 hour visiting the island where you can climb up in the Lighthouse tower and look over the St. Lawrence River. Visit the Lighthouse keeper’s home that is now a museum and gift shop. Walk the island and see the different buildings such as the building used to store whale oil to burn in the lighthouse. Peer through the unique glass bottom to see native fish of the St. Lawrence, and other natural wonders beneath the waves of the Saint Lawrence River. The tour is guided by their historical and naturalist narrators with unique knowledge of the Thousand Islands.
