Don't know what Poi is?
Poi refers to both a style of performing art and the equipment used for engaging in poi performance. As a performance art, poi involves swinging tethered weights through a variety of rhythmical and geometric patterns. Poi can be made from various materials with different handles, weights, and effects (such as fire).
Claire de Luxe is a professional circus freaque specializing in Hell Yeah! She has performed with such hitmakers as T-Pain, Wyclef Jean, and Shpongle and is featured in the current season of Lifetime’s Project Runway. She has wowed clients as diverse as Jay-Z, Bloomberg, and Miranda Kerr, dazzled crowds at events ranging from Bonnaroo to Le Cirque, and hypnotized audiences as large as 300,000. She performs with about 20 different props, both on stilts and off.
Claire's other passion is teaching and sharing flow arts, and she has been one of NYC's primary flow arts teachers for over 5 years. She teaches poi, hoop, fans, and stilts classes and as a teacher is known for her clarity of instruction, attention to detail, and centered, inclusive approach. Based in Williamsburg, she teaches group classes at Triskelion Arts and private lessons at her home studio on the south side of Williamsburg.
