Item Description
An original, signed, Marie Charlot, this painting shows a gathering of young Victorian women at the beach as they dare to venture out into the water with their parasols and hats and ribbons, the foaming sea blending into the heavy impasto of their pale dresses. The scene, rendered in a palette of frothy gray and lavender, is quintessential Marie Charlot, who is known as one of the finest artists with a keen sense of popular history. From the New Jersey shore, she has researched the archives of Atlantic City history creating the beautiful beach scenes of yesteryear all rendered in magnificent oils. Her impressionistic technique makes liberal use of the art palette knife to add a sense of subtlety to her works.
This piece comes in a distressed orchid frame measuring 41''w x 29''h, while the painting itself measures 36''w x 24''h.
SHIPPING IS NOT INCLUDED on any items in the WXXI Auction. Certificates will be mailed directly to winning bidders at no additional cost. Bidders who have won Merchandise items (Items with an 'M' in front of the item number) will be contacted at the conclusion of the Auction to arrange shipping for an additional fee. The WXXI Auction will ship via FedEx Express, if the bidder prefers a different shipping method they must arrange shipping and contact the Auction with the appropriate details. Merchandise items can also be picked-up at WXXI on the publicized open pick-up dates or by appointment. All Merchandise must be picked up by July 31, 2015.
