Item Description

Linwood Holton Elementary School is a wonderful little gem on the Northside of Richmond. Since 2011, art teacher Sarah Fought and local artist Chris Milk have been developing projects for the art program, after school classes and summer camps.

Our door is a collaborative effort between second graders at Holton and Chris Milk. Students got to meet Holton's resident artist and work alongside him as they painted the door, rainbow and other wooden cutouts.  The students are thrilled to have their hand in a public art work and can't wait to join the quest to find it!

Absentee Bid Info:

If you would like to bid but cannot attend the event, you may choose one of the two options below.

Note: No matter which option you choose, you must register to bid. Winning absentee bids are binding.

Option A: Submit an Absentee Bid.

After you’ve registered to bid online, you must call or send an email to Laura Dickinson stating the item number of the door you are bidding on and your maximum bid amount. Absentee bids must be received by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23^rd.

Policy: Ms. Dickinson will present your bid in writing to the auctioneer for the live auction. The Find Art Doors auctioneer is a certified auctioneer with Blacktie Benefit Auctions. The auctioneer will bid competitively on your behalf. 

Option B: Send a friend to the event in your place.

Purchase a ticket online with your credit card info. This automatically registers you to bid. Name on the ticket should be the person presenting at check in. 

Other Item Info

All doors are exterior doors and vary in size; generally are 82” x 36” or slightly less. Please measure your door frame if you intend to install as a door. 

Doors were seasonally weather-proofed but not guaranteed to withstand outdoor elements indefinitely; purchasers should treat accordingly.

Artists retain the copyright of door designs; may not be reproduced without artist’s permission.

Gently used poles for in-ground installation sold separately, $20/set 

Winners of doors may take them home that evening or pick up at Tredegar the following day, October 25th, from 1 – 4 p.m. 

Pick-up is also available at the Art on Wheels Studio: 3108 W Leigh St. during the following times:
Monday Oct. 26, 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Wednesday Oct 28, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Friday Oct. 30th, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
