Item Description
Michael is a Richmond-based artist and designer living in Northside's Battery Park. Lease received his MFA in Photo/Film from VCU in 2005. At the core of Michael's work is a feeling of wonder for the way people use photographs to make meaning. Michael's recent projects include the gathering and re-contextualizing of snapshots, fine art prints and a series of photographic chapbooks sent via post to a select group of recipients. Michael is a 2013 recipient of a Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Professional Fellowship, a board member at 1708 Gallery and Milk River Arts. His photograph FTLW#03292008 (Bellevue Chinese Witch Hazel) is currently on view at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and with his partner Kimberly Wolfe he recently launched the storytelling project Battery Park Stories: Reflections of Our Neighborhood with his neighborhood association.
