Item Description
“Mrs. Lovett Bear” from Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd
The Broadway Bears was an annual auction of one-of-a-kind, museum-quality, theatrically costumed teddy bears, each dressed in a handmade, authentic recreation of the original costume design and signed by the star who made the character famous. After a successful 15-year run, The Broadway Bears held its final auction in 2012.
This “Mrs. Lovett Bear” was re-gifted to us by its original winning bidder.
She made “the worst pies in London,” but Mrs. Lovett surely made a splash when she pulled out a tuba and started to oom-pah along with the cast in John Doyle’s 2005 revival of Sweeney Todd. This bear first appeared in 2007 at the 10th Broadway Bears auction. She was designed and created by Terry Sipress and is signed by Patti LuPone and Stephen Sondheim.
