The World Affairs Council of Oregon, the state's oldest and largest international affairs organization, coordinates the International Speaker Series whose purpose is to bring influential world figures to Oregon to address the most critical ideas and issues shaping our global future. The 2016 International Speaker Series—“Which Way Ahead?” —provides a look at the horizon of major global ideas and issues with a slate of some of the most vibrant thinkers, writers, and doers of today.
For this fundraiser the World Affairs Council is offering two tickets to the June 16, 2016 presentation:
Bill McKibben, Environmental Activist and Founder of 350.org
"Climate Futures: Beyond Paris"
Thursday, June 16 7:00 PM at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, 1037 SW Broadway
Environmental activist, bestselling author, and “the planet’s best green journalist” (TIME), McKibben is the founder of 350.org, the massive grassroots climate change initiative, which has organized 20,000 rallies around the world in every country save North Korea, spearheaded the resistance to the Keystone Pipeline, and launched the fast-growing fossil fuel divestment movement. A former staff writer for New Yorker magazine, he writes frequently for a wide variety of publications around the world, including the New York Review of Books, National Geographic, and Rolling Stone.
