Item Description
Learn everything you ever wanted to know about honey bees. We will put on veils, open up some hives and explore the many aspects of backyard beekeeping. Topics to include: why bees, why now, anatomy of the bee, parts of a hive, bee keeping equipment, hive health, diseases & pests, honey harvest, benefits of raw honey and honey bee products, 12 month/4 season cycle of beekeeping, and local beekeepers resources. We will wrap up with some honey sampling, freshly harvested from our backyard hives.
Item Special Note
Guests should protect appendages by wearing blue jeans, long-sleeve, light colored shirts, and boots or other ankle-covering shoes. Bee veils will be provided. Liability waivers must be signed prior to class start.
