Item Description

Are you interested in learning how to cook an Indian meal? Ever wondered how a simple, inexpensive pressure cooker works? Or what all of the different spices and ingredients are and how to buy them? Or are you just looking for a fun weekend or evening social event? I have been cooking Indian meals for over 20 years and would love to teach a small group of up to 4 cooks some basic Indian cooking techniques that will demystify the process and enable anyone to prepare delicious Indian food.

Class includes the following:

  • A comprehensive and Instructional Indian Cookbook by one of the country's award winning Indian Cooking Instructors.
  • A Field Trip to the local Indian Store to purchase spices and ingredients for everyone to take home (spices included in package).
  • Hands-on instructions in my home on how to prepare a complete North Indian Meal.

Meal will including the following:

  • Appetizer chosen from a few options including: Grilled chicken kebab, grilled Indian Sandwiches
  • Dal chosen from a few options including, Toor Dal, Channa Dal, Rajma, Dal Makhani, and more!
  • Indian Basmati Rice (both flavored and plain)
  • Roti (handmade whole wheat flatbread)
  • 2 Main Course Entrees chosen from many options including: Palak  Paneer, Aloo Gobhi, Channa Masala, Chicken Curry, Matar Paneer, Rajma, Butter Chicken, Chicken Jalfrezie, and more!
  • Side dish of choice such as Raita (yogurt accompaniment) or vegetable side, or Kheer (rice or vermicelli dessert)

You will learn how to roast and grind your own spice blend, use an Indian style pressure cooker (useful for many western dishes), make healthy handmade whole wheat flat bread and make incredibly healthy meals!

All prepared food can be divided and brought home for your families to try!

Cooking class must take place during the 2015-16 or 2016-17 school year upon a mutually agreed upon date.  (Summer excluded.)  Can be daytime, evening, or weekends.  Class time approximately 3-4 hours.
