Item Description
Half-day (either sunrise or sunset) class in the Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park area. Dates are flexible and to be arranged by the winning bidder.
Acadia National Park is one of the most unique preserved natural areas in the United States. Acadia has a long history of naturalists and artists, going back to the 1850s, thanks to its remarkable landscape. Few other places in the world offer such close proximity of rocky coast, gentle streams, crystal clear lakes, wetlands, forests, and mountain tops. For the nature photographer this is an ideal environment with easy access through the National Park’s extensive trails, carriage roads, and motor roads.
Acadia’s photographic richness lies in the subtleties of the landscape. This environment can be a challenge to capture effectively. Much of Acadia’s drama is found on a smaller and much more intimate scale than Western parks and requires special consideration when photographing.
Avid naturalist and photographer Tom Lawrence has been a resident of Mount Desert Island for 30 years. A biologist, geologist and outdoor educator, Tom is an enthusiastic instructor with the ability to tie together the beauty and science of Acadia. With his experience working with students of all ages in the outdoors, Tom can bring awareness to unique photographic opportunities that may otherwise go unnoticed. Being a long-time resident of the area, he also has great knowledge for photographing the more iconic scenes of Mount Desert Island.
Traveler, adventurer, and photographer Vincent Lawrence, Tom’s youngest son, grew up with Acadia in his backyard. After spending the last few years traveling abroad Vincent returned to one of the most beautiful places on earth, excited to share his passion for photography with others. He brings his experience in “on-the-go photography” as well as expertise in Photoshop and Lightroom to Acadia Images’ curriculum.
