Item Description
Title & Artist: "8-Bit" – by Chris Clark
Medium & Size: Acrylic on wood. 21 7/8" L x 8 5/8" H x 3/4" D. For indoor display only.
Artist Statement: Our digital world is encroaching ever more fully into our "meat" world. Representations of reality are becoming more and more sophisticated. Emojis and icons are becoming surrogates for true interaction and actual objects. 8-Bit is a large-scale rendering of a cod emoji or icon. Looks fine from far away, but don't study it too closely—just glance and walk away.
Artist Biography: Chris is a creative director by trade, a husband and father by life. He's dabbled in woodturning, mountain biking, neon sculpture, acting, stunt kites, sailing, letterpress printing, flying, home renovation, tall ship crewing, and probably a few other things at one time or another. It's unlikely he'll ever take up competitive eating, but being only 53, there's still plenty of time.
Hosting Business: "8-Bit" is on display at Warwick Cinema, 123 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA.
