Title & Artist:  "Great Blue Cod" – by Linda Lyons

Medium & Size:  Oil paint and gesso on wood.  21 7/8" L x 8 5/8" H x 3/4" D.  For indoor display only.

Artist Statement:  Ever since I can remember, I have loved to draw, and as a child was never without pencil and paper in hand. I brought them with me everywhere, especially to the beach. As a child I was also extremely shy and introverted. I found creating art helped build confidence and helped me communicate better with others who may have not accepted me otherwise. I believe teaching art to be the most rewarding profession I can imagine.

Artist Biography:  I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Painting, received in 2012 from Western Connecticut State University, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Boston University, which was completed (quite) a few years prior. A most exciting creative experience was when I was accepted and participated in an eight-week program in design, held in Brissago, Switzerland, by Yale University. As a graphic designer, a few notable achievements include designing the first Neiman Marcus website, awarded a Best of the Web for Fashion Retail by Forbes Magazine that year, and also the Louis Boston website, which won Best Retail Website. Hill Holliday won the national distinction of Agency of the Year, as did Digitas, while I was employed by each of these wonderful firms.

Since 2006 I have taught at six different colleges as an Adjunct, experiencing many methods of teaching design. Honors include the Wilhelmina Denning Jackson Art Scholarship from Marblehead. In addition to teaching and painting, I have shown at the Blue Mountain Gallery in Chelsea, New York City.

Hosting Business:  "Great Blue Cod" is on display at Roses and Thistle – A New Leaf, 43 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead, MA.

Item Special Note

Pick-up of purchased cods will be on Tuesday evening, July 5. Winning bidder will receive a notification email with information on pick-up time and location.

If winning bidder requires shipping, winner's credit card will be charged a separate $24.95 fee to cover USPS ground and handling. Shipping is available within the U.S. only and must be requested within 7 days after receipt of the notification email.

Any cod purchased via "Buy Now" will remain on display at the hosting business through the end of the auction, and will be available for pick-up as detailed in the winning bidder notification email.

If winning bidder has not picked up cod (or provided shipping address) within 30 days after the close of the auction, cod will become the property of Marblehead Festival of Arts, Inc.
