Item Description
When deciding what to paint on the rain barrel, our family liked two concepts: The Arapahoe Creation Myth & the Native American rain dance (performed by the Southwestern tribes). Both seemed to fit the BBP's rainwater collection theme. As in the myth, we used a Creator figure surrounded by water (rain/droplets). However, we depicted him welcoming it with dance, instead of tears for dry land, found by Turtle. To echo the Native American spirit, we threw in a couple of iconic thunderbirds & used authentic storm clouds & crop symbols for the rest of the barrel.
"As long as the sun shines & the waters flow, this land will be here to give life to men & animals." - Chief Crowfoot
