2002 Kentucky Derby (11" x 9") 

For the 2002 edition — the magical year of Kentucky horse War Emblem's Triple Crown near-miss — the Kentucky Derby chose Iowa native Gary Kelley to design a true poster classic. Kelley's design captures the style and majesty of the event, with many of the icons and moments of Derby day depicted in his own inimitable way.

2003 Kentucky Derby (8" x 10") 

For the 2003 edition, the Kentucky Derby chose Southern California's retro-style artist Laura Smith whose recreation of Art Deco style and flair (fonts, color palette and iconography) looks like it comes straight from the '20s!  

2006 Kentucky Derby (10" x 10")

For the 2006 edition — the amazing then ultimately tragic year of Barbaro — the Derby chose nationally renowned San Francisco artist Dennis Ziemienski to bring his bold, detail-rich illustration to the series. The poster centers around Ziemienski's bold painting "Out In Front," focusing on the raw power and strength of an equine warrior and his rider as they storm down the back stretch, with the Twin Spires of the main clubhouse and Millionaire's Row looming in the distance. The design is classic 20th century American styling: strong, bold, colorful and attractive!

2008 Kentucky Derby (11" x 7")

Artist Trish Biddle's vintage-inspired oil paintings evoke the romance of America's greatest horse race. Powerful thoroughbreds, elegant women and bright blue skies set the tone for the 2008 Run For The Roses. The historic Twin Spires shine in the background.

2010 Kentucky Derby (8" x 10")

Internationally recognized artist Linda Le Kinff lives and paints in Paris, France. Her depiction of the official 2010 Kentucky Derby is a tribute to the bold colors of the fashionable outfits worn on Derby Day and also of Louisville, Kentucky's relationship with France. (The city was named for King Louis XVI.) Le Kinff's artwork features the winning horse and jockey about to approach the Winner's Circle, but taking a moment for their admiring fans. She is regarded for her vibrant use of color and strong line, demonstrated in this charming rendition of the 136th Run for the Roses.
