Item Description
Two tickets to the Children's Orchestra Society Discovery Gala Concert on May 22, 2017 at the Danny Kaye Theater, Hunter College in New York City. The evening will feature the 2016 Discovery Senior Discovery Winner the the Young Symphonic Ensemble conducted by Michael Dadap. In addition, two CDs of Michael Dadap's classical guitar recordings are part of the COS package.
The Children's Orchestra Society, founded in 1962 by Dr. H.T. Ma, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to "teaching the language of music" to children and teens. Members of COS receive excellent training in classical music and opportunities to perform in concerts with their peers as well as with well-established musicians.
Formed in 1990 by Music Director Michael Dadap, the Young Symphonic Ensemble consists of over 80 talented young musicians aged 12 to 18. The size and diversity of the ensemble enable the YSE to discover a vast range of repertoire, from baroque to contemporary, short overtures to full-scale symphonies. The YSE performs at the annual Discovery Gala, in which the YSE performs with distinguished guest soloists, the year's Discovery Competition winner, and by itself in an exciting symphonic finale. Michael Dadap has been the artistic/music director and conductor of The Children's Orchestra Society since 1984. As an accomplished classical guitarist, he made his Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1974 and has since performed and toured with YC Ma in the U.S., Europe and Asia. He has published a number of solo guitar recordings.

Items expire a year from the auction close unless otherwise noted.
