Item Description
18-19th Century. From Maha Devi Gallery:
"Truly one of our masterpieces in our collection, this relief is entirely different from most Buddhist art found in China, and even shares similarities with early Christian art. Enthroned in the center and flanked by four attendants, the Buddha sits with each foot placed atop a lotus while beautiful celestial beings fly in the air. The base of the relief features a Kirin, a mystical creature in Chinese mythology. A rare and highly collectable piece."
The fingers of the hand have been broken off, but can be glued back on.
Dimensions: 24 1/4" Tall x 14" Wide x 5" Deep
Weight: about 60-70 lbs
