Item Description
White Mahakala is a wrathful aspect of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig), the bodhisattva of compassion. He appears in this tsa-tsa (statuette) with 6 arms, and stands on two elephants. White Mahakala eliminates spiritual and material poverty and brings abundance and long life.
This is a very unusual piece of artwork, and is easily museum quality. Made of pressed or carved clay and hand-painted in full color, the details are impressive. The clay statuette is inlaid with hand-carved bone face, arms and feet standing on elephants. The sides and back are covered with leather-like cloth. There is one chip on the lotus, revealing the original clay.
This is a real collector's item.
