DOROTHY PARKER (1893-1967) dominated American popular literature in the 1920s and 1930s. Her witty and sarcastic poems, short stories, and reviews were published in The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and Vogue. She garnered two Academy Award nominations for screenwriting until she was added to the infamous Hollywood Blacklist. "The Portable Dorothy Parker", a 1944 collection of some of her best writings is still a best-seller.
