About the wine
2012 Rombauer El Dorado Zinfandel
92 points International Wine Report
"The 2013 'El Dorado' Zinfandel from Rombauer is a fantastic bottling from this estate. The El Dorado Vineyard is perched 1,650 feet above sea level in the Sierra Foothills and is known for its sandy soils that grow some great Zinfandel. This impressive new release wine begins with aromatics reminiscent of prune, red cherry, dill, sage and pipe tobacco. There are flavors of blackberry jam, roasted figs, and prune with gobs of milk chocolate. Gorgeous range here with lovely texture and complexity."
2013 Bella Lily Hill Estate Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel
92 points Robert Parker
"Bright and lush, the 2013 Lily Hill zinfandel exhibits classic old-vine Dry Creek aromatics of raspberry bush, blackcurrant and herbs de provence. A silky texture defines the mouthfeel, intertwined with toasted walnut and vanilla. The incorporation of a small amount of Petite Sirah pushes the finish into rich, substantial length."
2013 Vite Vecchio Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel
93 Points Wine Enthusiast
"Vite Vecchio is a very limited production, family operated estate grown Zinfandel from the renowned Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County, California, where wines of distinction have been cultivated for over 150 years. Our vines are head pruned and dry farmed in the old world style. We manage and nurture our vineyard as well as handcraft our wines.
Old vines in the truest sense, these small berry clusters yield less than two tons per acre of intensely flavored fruit. These ancient vines cling to the gravelly and alluvial soils of the Dry Creek Valley to produce wines layered in bright cherry, wild berry jam and cracked black pepper flavors balanced with crisp acidity and supple tannins, which result in a lingering smooth finish. Cold soaking and gentle punchdowns are used to maximize color and flavor. VITE is aged 16 months in French oak. The wine is then bottled unfiltered to retain its intense varietal character.
Vite is sold locally at Flea Street and Roberts Market"
About the chocolate
Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory in the Mission District of San Francisco.
They roast, crack, sort, winnow, grind, conch, and temper small batches of beans and then mold and package each bar by hand. By sourcing high quality beans and carefully crafting tiny batches, they bring out the individual flavors and nuances of each bean.
