Item Description

One week's rental at our property, Seillans, France.

Our medieval village home was beautifully restored in the Provencal manner by Christian Richer, a local architect known for his ability to retain the character and charm of these fine old structures. Contemporary kitchen and bath fixtures have been carefully matched with raised-panel woodwork, wrought-iron hardware, terracotta tiles, white plaster walls, large windows, and medieval details. Both the main house and guest house are compact and vertical in nature. Rooms are bright and open but not large by US standards. Up the curving staircase takes you to a guest bedroom with built-in desk, twin beds, good closet space and a separate tiled bath with combined shower/tub and a built-in clothes washer/dryer. Another short flight up and you are in the heart of our home, a living area with windows that overlook the tiled rooftops of Seillans.

Seillans is a small, quiet medieval village. You go there to get away. There are no streets inside the village. And no vehicles. Cobblestone footpaths, each stone protected by the historic trust, wind through the 300-house village. Here you decrease your carbon footprint because you can easily walk, not drive, from our house to local businesses and cafes.

Day trips can be planned along the Cote d'Azur, into the heart of Provence, or up into the Haut Var to intriguing perched villages where you can spend an afternoon visiting mills that produce extra-virgin olive oils, watching local artisans create stunning hand-blown glassware (Biot), shopping for fresh foods and antiques at the outdoor markets, or driving from vineyard to vineyard for degustation, sampling the local Cote Provence wines.

Our property includes the main house (sleeps 4 adults) and a smaller guest house right next door (sleeps 2 adults). Either home can be rented separately or you can rent them both for up to 6 people.

Property is further described at https://www.flipkey.com/seillans-vacation-rentals/p195945/. See inclusions and exclusions below.

If there are just two of you, the Guest House typically has more availability than the Main House.  The Main House sleeps four and Guest House two. If you have a group of five or six, and take both houses, the total fee for housekeeping will be in the range of $350-$400.

Item Special Note

Description of what is included and what is excluded:

Rental donation includes a fully-cleaned home ready for your arrival, all linens and, if needed, being met by our housekeeper to make sure everything is in order and to answer any questions about the house. There is a one-time fee of $200 USD to cover out-of-pocket expenses for utilities and property cleaning. Use of the house phone and Internet access are free of charge. Local (within France) calls only on the house phone. A rental car is a must. The closest international airport is Nice Cote d'Azur, about one hour from the house. House is not wheelchair accessible. Seillans village does not allow cars inside the walls so some walking is required. Village is hilly and lanes are of stone.
