Things you should know...

Signing up for beginner classes is by age:

  • Little Folk (up to age 5)
  • Tots (up to age 6)
  • Pre-Alpha 1 (ages 6-8)
  • Pre-Alpha 2 (ages 9-10)
  • Pre-Alpha 3 (ages 11-14)
  • Adult/Teen (one semester of Pre-Alpha suggested)
  • Hockey 1 (ages 6 and up)

Starting class

  • Always arrive early and check in at the skating school desk — and then get your skates at the front desk.
  • Little Folk and Tots will always report to the studio rink to begin their classes.
  • Pre-Alpha levels will report to their designated locker room on the first week for some off-ice instruction before taking the ice with the coaches.
  • Starting the second week, students will report directly to their designated lanes on the ice for their classes.
  • Helmets are strongly recommended for the younger children and beginning skaters.
  • Dress warmly and wear gloves.
  • Rental skates should not be worn with thick socks. Always select the appropriate skate size (often one size smaller than shoe size) and lace them up tightly.
  • In the NHL rink parents are asked to watch from upstairs. For those in the studio rink it’s best to watch from behind the glass. This is helpful to avoid distractions.
  • The Coaches are always available before and after classes for questions.
