Item Description
Today the college application process can seem overwhelming, stressful and all-consuming. On the contrary, Catherine Northup, partner at McDonough College Consulting, believes the journey to college should be an exciting time for self-discovery! She helps students identify and research strong matches across a number of different criteria important to them. She works closely with each individual student to assess their strengths, identify opportunities, create a balanced college list and craft a seamless story through their application. With seven years of admission experience at Stanford and two years of experience working directly with students, Catherine has come to see the admissions process from both sides of the desk.
Catherine Northup received a BA in Government from Smith College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She has served on the Board of Trustees at Smith College and worked a number of years in the financial services industry focused on technology. Companies such as Visa, Online Resources and E*TRADE benefited from her expertise in Account Management, Marketing, and Product Development. She has found her true calling in college admissions. Leveraging her marketing expertise, she works closely with students to craft their unique story, which she uses to her students' advantage in helping them create their personal narrative. And this distinction is often the difference between an admit or deny decision. At the end of this journey, her students find a college where they will thrive.
