Item Description

"As soon as I enter the door of a tavern, I experience oblivion of care, and a freedom from solicitude. There is nothing which has yet been contrived by man, by which so much happiness is produced as by a good tavern or inn."

Samuel Johnson

Thanks to our auction partners at the iconic Pelican Inn and Pub, just off the southern tip of Point Reyes National Seashore, you and a friend have one night waiting for you in this ivy-clad and whitewashed inn.

An enchanting haven for visitors, lovers and travelers, the Pelican Inn hearkens back to the days of olde and awaits you just 45 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge.

Named in honor of the English explorer Sir Francis Drake, the first European sea captain to circumnavigate the globe, on his ship, The Pelican, later renamed the Golden Hind, the inn is majestically positioned in a valley in the center of the Golden Gate National Recreational Area, a unit of the National Park Service and just moments from Muir and Stinson beaches, or the iconic redwoods at Muir Woods National Monument, sister parks of Point Reyes National Seashore.

Snuggle up in one of the inn's cozy bedchambers, with a queen bed and private bath, or venture down to the Snug, a private parlor for overnight guests where you can enjoy pub food and drink like any respectable Lord or Lady.

Thanks to the PRNSA Bookstores, you will also receive a treasure trove including copies of "Discovering Francis Drake's California Harbor" by Raymond Aker and Edward Von der Porten, "Sir Francis Drake & The Golden Hinde" by Michael Turner, plus "Point Reyes Peninsula: Olema, Point Reyes Station, and Inverness" by Carola DeRooy and Dewey Livingston.

To get the most out of your visit to Point Reyes National Seashore, stop by one of PRNSA's Visitor Center Bookstores. You'll find guides that will enhance your exploration of the Seashore's spectacular beaches, woodlands and wetlands. You'll find natural and cultural histories, children's books, maps, posters, field guides and a wide range of nature-inspired books and gifts.

Whether you're heading out for a day of bird watching, hiking, whale watching or wildflower study, PRNSA's bookstores are a great place to start.

In addition, take home some coins of the Point Reyes realm all of your own with a handful of Point Reyes coins, which benefit such local non-profit organizations as Bolinas Community Center, Community Land Trust Association of West Marin, West Marin Community Radio KWMR, Point Reyes National Seashore Association, West Marin Fund, and many more.

Designed by Bolinas wildlife artist Keith Hansen, these solid brass coins, worth $3 each, can be used at participating businesses throughout West Marin. The coin is engraved with local icons: the Point Reyes Lighthouse, Tule elk, an osprey with the pens and brushes of the community's writers and artists in its talons, the bounty of coastal Marin's farms and ranches, its wild beaches, the heritage of native people symbolized by the arrowhead, its ridgelines and abundant wildlife.

What's better than enjoy some of old England right on the northern California coast? Bid today!
