Item Description
A "Vertigo" Tour of San Francisco with Steve Woodall
Sixty years after its filming, Alfred Hitchcock’s film Vertigo is considered by many to be his masterpiece, and the city of San Francisco deserves co-billing with James Stewart and Kim Novak as its leading star.
Steve Woodall, collections specialist for artists’ books at the Legion of Honor and San Francisco Center for the Book’s former Artistic Director, is also a former San Francisco cabdriver. He’ll escort you through the Technicolor streets of Hitchcock’s San Francisco, offering insights and anecdotes galore – until you tell him to stop.
You are bidding for a 3-1/2 hour tour (for up to three people) of the San Francisco locations Hitchcock used for the film, from well-known sites such as Mission Dolores and Fort Point to the now-obscure former locations of long-gone San Francisco institutions, including Ernie’s, Podesta Baldocchi and Ransohoff’s. Even if you think you know the city well, this tour will offer a view from a fresh perspective; and even if you’re already a Hitchcock fan, you might gain new insight into a classic film.
Item Special Note
3.5 hour tour (for up to three (3) people.
Includes admission to the Legion of Honor (with an optional brief side visit to the Achenbach Foundation).
Mutually agreed-upon date and time (a weekend morning works best for avoiding crowds). It is recommended that you watch the film shortly before taking the tour.
