Thank You For Your Bid to Support San Francisco Center for the Book's programs!

Now is your chance to not only get all the great items you want, but to do it knowing you are helping support our organization and mission.

The San Francisco Center for the Book was co-founded in 1996 by Mary Austin and Kathleen Burch, who recognized a growing need in San Francisco, the Bay Area and on the West Coast for a facility specifically designed and equipped to support the appreciation, teaching and creation of book arts. The first center of its kind on the West Coast, San Francisco Center for the Arts was incorporated in March of 1996 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Having just celebrated its 20th Anniversary in 2016, the San Francisco Center for the Book continues to successfully and creatively develop and present its core programs: book arts exhibitions, public events, workshops, publications and education outreach. Through its exhibitions showcasing nationally and internationally renowned book artists, SFCB reaches ever growing visiting and local audiences. Its public events, particularly the Roadworks Steamroller Printing Festival, attract thousands of visitors per year. The Center’s robust selection of over 300 book arts-related workshops draws nearly 2,000 students annually, ranging in experience from beginner to master, from the Bay Area and beyond. It’s Small Plates imprint program supports local book artists through editioned new works, the sale of which help support the artists and the Center. SFCB’s small, but growing, education outreach program shares the joys of books, letterpress printing and bookmaking with local primary, secondary and university-level students.

San Francisco Center for the Book is located at 375 Rhode Island Street in the city's Potrero Hill (Potrero Flats) neighborhood near the Design District. The Center is open 7 days per week from 10:00am to 5:30pm. Visit www.sfcb.org to learn more.
