Item Description

Point Reyes National Seashore Association is proud to partner again with Nick's Cove & Cottages across Tomales Bay from Point Reyes National Seashore for a mid-week, one-night stay in a water view cottage, with a chef's tasting for two!

Plus, enjoy a half-day personal photography tutorial for one or two people, emphasizing the Point Reyes area landscape with professional photographer Bill Helsel. Bill will guide you through getting the best from one or two of his favorite locations, then you'll download and evaluate the day's work at a local cafe or restaurant. Scheduling and destinations will be flexible.

Combining rustic charm and luxurious comfort, you and your guest will enjoy a night of luxury in a waterview cottage from Nicks Cove. Each cottage is beautifully appointed with plush down comforters, a wood burning stove and bathrooms equipped with heated ceramic tile floors. The picturesque setting and tranquil waterside evenings overlooking the National Seashore, Tomales Point and the Tule Elk Preserve make it the perfect place to unwind and refresh yourself.

You and your guest will also enjoy a special chef tasting dinner. The natural beauty and abundant farm produce of the West Marin coast inspire seasonal, sustainable and delicious California cuisine sourced from local dairy and produce farms, and the freshest seafood from nearby waters. Each dish is fresh and approachable, the perfect combination of comfort and refinement, and the very essence of elegant but hearty, farm-to-table cuisine.

Nick's Cove's inspired restaurant feels more like a hunting lodge, complete with restored mahogany bar, wood-burning fireplace, and reclaimed redwood tables and is the perfect spot for a nightcap.

Your tutorial with Bill Helsel will take place on an afternoon, weekday or weekend, with the date to be coordinated between Bill and you, lasting up to four hours and finishing near sunset. Weather, tides, and moon stage will make some days and locations better than others.

Bill recommends your bringing a good quality digital camera with wide-angle to telephoto lenses, camera instruction book, sturdy tripod, hiking shoes or boots that are waterproof (unless you don't mind getting wet or muddy,) and warm clothing.

If you need help with camera controls, Bill will do his best, and he's not familiar with all makes and models; he works with a Canon DSLR and several film cameras.

Stay awhile on Tomales Bay and sharpen your photography skills, bid now!
