Item Description

Point Reyes National Seashore Association is delighted to partner with the National Park Service at Point Reyes for an outdoor and indoor park adventure with Park Ranger Carlo Arreglo for up to 8 people. Families and all ages encouraged.

Join Carlo for a visit to Point Reyes in winter, the best time in the park to see gray whales in migration and northern elephant seals as they haul out to breed.

We'll also visit the Point Reyes lighthouse and the Historic Lifeboat Station to learn and appreciate the maritime history of the Point Reyes headlands.

As Carlo is an avid birder, you'll also have an opportunity to learn about birds on this wintry excursion.

Bring your curiosity and binoculars. Lunch included. This visit is best taken from January through April on Thursdays or Fridays.

Plus, you will enjoy use of the Historic Coast Guard Station Chief's House at Chimney Rock for two nights for up to 8 people.

Invite up to seven guests to join you for a rare and special two-night retreat at the Chief's House, former residence of the U.S. Coast Guard lifesaving station chief, recently renovated with six bedrooms and one master bedroom, one bathroom, living room, and equipped kitchen. You and your guests can unwind and relax for two days and nights in this cozy two-story retreat set amidst old trees overlooking Drakes Bay.

Carlo Arreglo grew up in Chicago and was a grad student at UC Berkeley English before discovering his passion for parks, nature, and education. He is thrilled to be working as a park ranger and program manager for the Winter Wildlife Docent Program. Working in the interpretive and education field, he's especially interested in programming, outreach, and getting new audiences to their parks. Before Point Reyes, Carlo made stops at Pinnacles National Park and San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. He is also an avid birder, foodie, traveler, and reader, always trying to catch up with all his unread New Yorker magazines.
