- Estimated Value
You and a friend will assist Dr. Ben Becker, Point Reyes National Seashore's Chief Scientist, with eelgrass surveys or a similar research trip in Drakes Estero. The survey will be 3-4 hours on a small boat assisting with logistics and data while National Park Service (NPS) staff snorkel in the estero to collect eelgrass density and distribution data as part of the long-term monitoring program.
Surveys will be scheduled for dates in August or September 2018. If we are lucky, we'll see river otters, bat rays, leopard sharks, waterbirds, and you will get a close up experience with NPS staff documenting the restoration of this extraordinary West Coast marine wilderness.
This offer is limited to two passengers, both of whom must be comfortable in a small boat for 3 to 4 hours in cold conditions. Surveys will be scheduled for dates in August or September 2018.
Plus, you will enjoy use of the Historic Coast Guard Station Chief's House at Chimney Rock for two nights for up to 8 people.
Invite up to seven guests to join you for a rare and special two-night retreat at the Chief's House, former residence of the U.S. Coast Guard lifesaving station chief, recently renovated with six bedrooms and one master bedroom, one bathroom, living room, and equipped kitchen. You and your guests can unwind and relax for two days and nights in this cozy two-story retreat set amidst old trees overlooking Drakes Bay.
