Item Description
28"L, 20"W. The turtle plays a key role in several Native American creation stories. The turtle swims deep below the water that covers the earth and he brings up mud from the bottom that helps create the earth. The weaving has a hanging sleeve on the back with Lila Nelson label sewn on. Artist: Lila Nelson, previous Vesterheim Textile Curator. Lila passed away in 2015.
