Churchill’s Late Bottled Vintage Port, Portugal, 2003
Late-bottled vintage Port (LBV) is port that has be aged in barrel longer than vintage ports and typically can be enjoyed earlier that a true vintage port. Sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference between the two. Some LBV are bottled filtered and thus do not need to be decanted; those bottled unfiltered do need decanting before consumption. The Churchll was bottled unfiltered and has been described as dry, tannic, bright, juicy, and acidic.
Carmes de Rieussec, Sauternes, France, 2009
Les Carmes de Rieussec, Sauternes, France, 2009, is the second label of Ch. Rieussec, one of the Grand Cru of Sauternes. Named after the Carmelite order that once owned the property, the wine, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and Muscadelle, is a sweet, complex wine. The wines of Ch. Riussec have been compared to those of Yquem.
