Item Description
The Koi Series developed after traveling to Bali. The idea of Koi swimming under the moon light when the water is murky and with limited light, you don’t see them.
So I decided to create an art piece of this special moment imagined. I also became interested in the idea of Koi swimming through Lotus plants in all stages of growth and transformation. I especially appreciate the Lotus blossoming out of the muck- reaching tall towards the sun. The Koi pieces are about healing and peace and tranquility, simple beauty.
Susan Obermeyer Strauss is an International Artist, living in Colorado on a small farm with Koi ponds and many other wonderful animals. Susan will be teaching at an artist residency, titled Archeology of the Frivolous at Marfa Texas this November.
